WORKSHOPS

ASK A DRAMATURGE (or the dramaturge will ask you)
Saturday and Sunday, March 2-3, 11 am - 2 pm

In this two-day workshop, participants will work with award-winning playwright & dramaturge, Santiago Guzmán, to further develop their new plays. Participants will talk about their script, the story, and their characters, and Santiago will provide dramaturgical questions, provocations, and prompts to unlock storytelling possibilities in their writing. No completed draft is needed to participate- an idea, a couple of pages, or some scenes could work! This workshop will focus on process, as opposed to a completed product.

**This is a free online workshop, register by e-mailing [email protected].

SOUNDS LIKE A SHORT PLAY: Creating short audio works
Saturday, March 2, 2:30 pm - 5:30pm

Facilitator Monica Walsh will take the participants in this workshop through the elements of creating a short audio play. Using a simple app, you’ll record some pieces based on an idea that you bring to the workshop. This DIY approach means that at the end of this 3-hour workshop, you’ll have a very short piece to share with others in the class or maybe the audience at the Women’s Work Festival.

The Prick
Written by Brynn Cutcliffe

Synopsis: Guenevere thought it would be easy: girl meets cactus, girl loves cactus, cactus loves girl back. She never meant for it to go this far. In this darkly comedic new play, battle lines will be drawn, and blood will be shed. The Prick is a love story — you’ve been warned.

Brynn Cutcliffe won the PARC Award at the Island Fringe Festival for her play The Prick. The prize was awarded on the last day of the Festival, August 6, 2023. The PARC PEI Award Jury was “simply bowled over by the emotional resonance and technical specificity of Brynn’s script. Hilarious and heartbreaking, often within the same breath.”

Presented by Playwrights Guild of Canada
