upcoming public readings:
The seedlings project

As part of our lead-up to our 20th anniversary in 2026, Women's Work Festival launched its inaugural playwriting unit, The Seedlings Project. Aimed to cultivate new voices and support the development of original plays by IBPOC women and gender diverse artists. 🌱

Since May 2025, the inaugural cohort – Lydia Makaga, Thiviya Kana, Heather Rumbolt, Ijeoma Ezeike, and Judith – have worked with Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre’s Santiago Guzman to develop their plays.

CALL FOR MENTEES: BEAUTY BEHIND THE NORMS DESIGN WORKSHOP

For the first time in the Women’s Work Festival's history, we are hosting a Design Workshop for one of the plays previously developed at our Festival. For the 20th Annual Women's Work Festival, Nicole Obiodiaka's “Beauty Behind the Norms” was chosen to be the first participant of this program.

To support the creation of Obiodiaka's vision of “Beauty Behind the Norms”, we are selecting 4 women and gender diverse artists as design mentees.
