Communications coordinator
Are you a student with a knack for communication and a passion for the arts? The Women's Work Festival, celebrating "20 Years of Voices: Amplifying Stories, Empowering Futures," is looking for a Communications Coordinator to join our team and help amplify our reach! This is a fantastic chance to gain hands-on marketing experience in a dynamic arts organization dedicated to promoting work by, for, and about women and marginalized genders.

Opportunity Overview
As we celebrate two decades of empowering voices in theatre, we're seeking a Communications Coordinator to play a vital role in our upcoming 20th-anniversary festival. This hybrid position offers 10 hours a week from July 7th, 2025, to March 12, 2026, with the possibility of contract extension pending funding.
What You'll Do
You'll be instrumental in supporting our marketing and outreach efforts for our milestone 20th Anniversary Festival. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the creation of engaging content for our social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook).
- Updating and maintaining our website with event information for the 2026 festival program and events.
- Helping to draft and distribute email newsletters and announcements.
- Supporting the coordination of promotional materials (e.g., posters, flyers).
- Conducting outreach to community groups and organizations.
- Providing administrative support to the General Manager and Festival Staff.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking a currently enrolled post-secondary student who is enthusiastic and eager to learn. While a background in marketing is preferred, students from related areas are also encouraged to apply.
Ideally, you'll bring some of the following skills and competencies to the role:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook).
- Familiarity with Canva.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and email.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A keen interest in the arts and/or social justice.
- Familiarity with Weebly and Mailchimp is an asset.
- An artistic background is considered a significant asset. If you have experience in any artistic discipline, we'd love to hear about it!
Important Details
- Work Environment: This is a hybrid position, but the candidate should preferentially reside in St. John's or surrounding areas. Most of the work will be remote, but in the weeks leading to the Festival in March 2026, the Coordinator needs to be available to work in person in St. John's.
- Eligibility: The candidate needs to be a currently enrolled post-secondary student in any of the following areas:

- Candidates from different areas with an artistic background or a combination of the skills listed above can also be considered. Please note that due to funding requirements, International Students are not eligible for this position.
