Equity in Theatre HACKATHON
Thursday March 9, 2017 1-4PM
SPECIAL EVENT, FREE
Virtually hosted by Heather Rumancik
Want to help us increase Canadian women in theatre’s presence and visibility online? In this 3 hour session, we will be adding Wikipages on the work of female theatre artists to various sites. Theatre and arts organizations throughout the country will host "hackathon" events.
For those who have not yet visited, there is a website for the hackathon (equityhack.wordpress.com). We are gathering resources to be posted on the site that will help participants find additional information on women in Canadian theatre.
Please help us publicize our specific event via social media by mentioning the hackathon on Twitter (#EquityHack) and joining our Facebook Event 'Women's Work Festival 2017: Equity in Theatre's Hackathon' page .
Finally, we are encouraging folks to add to Theatrewiki.ca instead of Wikipedia during their hackathon events. Wikipedia has demonstrated a gender bias in how they moderate their site, and for various reasons often remove recently added pages. Theatrewiki.ca is an accessible Canadian site run by SpiderWebShow, with instructional video tutorials available on their website.
We need both researchers and wiki posters (in advance and on the day), so any time you can contribute would be helpful. If you'd like to volunteer for a portion of the Hackathon, please contact us at [email protected] with HACKATHON in the subject line.
Coffee, snacks, and excellent company will be provided during the day.
